What stage of breast cancer does this sound like to you? Okay today my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer unfortunately. The cancer is in the right side of her right breast. She has a lump on her breast, i think that's the tumor, anyways it's approximately 1.8 cm. In january she had her annual mammogram check up and that was negative and fine. In june she noticed the lump and a biopsy revealed it was cancer. Cancer - 5 Answers Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions : 1 : too early to tell yet she will probably have the lump removed and a check of the nodes under the armpit this will 'stage' the cancer 2 : Until further investigation it is impossible to stage, stage 1 or 2 are most likely. 3 : That would be stage II most likely..... 4 : Look on wikipedia it stages cancer there. 5 : My nana has breast cancer and she gets lumps but some of 'those lumps' aren't cancer. Only time will tell. 6 : I am sorry to hear about your mom, you will not know for sure what stage she is in until further testing however here is a general guideline for breast cancer: Stage 0: Pre-cancerous or non-invasive cells are found – in milk ducts. Stage 1: Small lump (< 2cm in diameter) – no lymph nodes involved. Stage 2: Larger lump > 2 cm or has spread to lymph nodes in armpit. Stage 3: Involves skin, deep muscle or many armpit nodes. May have spread to nodes under neck or under breastbone. Stage 4: Has spread (metastasis) beyond the breast area into other areas. TNM: T for tumour size, N for node involvement, M for metastasis. I hope the best for your family. |
