What happened to the pink Breast Cancer ribbon that was on my Yahoo Homepage

What happened to the pink Breast Cancer ribbon that was on my Yahoo Homepage?
I changed my Yahoo homepage to the pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awarness but today the pink ribbon is gone. I loved having that ribbon on there as I lost an Aunt to Breast Cancer two years ago. How do I get it back?

The home page graphics are changed periodically by Yahoo. If they removed the ribbon, it's probably gone for good. The past day or two they were featuring a question by Hillary Clinton on what people could do to prevent breast cancer. That's probably why they had the ribbon featured.
2 :
this is yahoo's homepage. you are only using it. they can put anything they want on it or remove whatever they want. these are their words not mine.

How does breast cancer differ with a lump compared to microcalcifications

How does breast cancer differ with a lump compared to microcalcifications?
If I always had calcifications in my breast for 22 years how did they turn in to cancercous microcalicifications. How does a cancer breast lump form compared with microcalcifications that were always there that were benign but changed into cancer.

Most women have some calcifications in their breast. Microcalcifications somtimes form in a pattern around cancerous tumors. These are new microcalcifications caused by the cancer not the benign calcifications turning to cancer.

Is it possible to get breast cancer at 13

Is it possible to get breast cancer at 13?
Can a 13 year old get breast cancer? If they already have boobs?

Usually brest cancer is detected in women around late 30's very less percentage of women younger age get breast cancer, Just under 7% of all breast cancer cases occur in women under 40 years old. However, breast cancer can strike at any age, and women of every age should be aware of their personal risk factors for breast cancer. There are several factors that put a woman at high risk for developing breast cancer, including: A personal history of breast cancer or some non-cancerous breast diseases. A family history of breast cancer, particularly in a mother, daughter, or sister. History of radiation therapy to the chest before age 40. Some studies have suggested that recent use of oral contraceptives (the Pill) results in a very slight increased risk for developing breast cancer over those who have never taken them. Women who have stopped using birth control pills for more than 10 years do not seem to be at any greater risk. Other studies, however, show no such effect. Researchers continue to study the conflicting results in these trials to determine if birth control pills play a role in breast cancer.
2 :
Hi lexie, don't worry. You wont get breast cancer at this age. It usually occurs in post menopausal women. So discard all your tension.
3 :
The chances are as close to zero as makes just about no difference. If a 13 year old had breast cancer, her case would make news headlines, and be written up in medical journals worldwide because if its EXTREME rarity. Breast cancer is almost unheard of in under 25s, let alone young teens. In fact fewer than 0.1% of all those diagnosed with it are under 30. It's rare in women under 40, and 80% of those diagnosed with it are over 50. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I was classed as a 'younger woman'; I was 50. Any changes you notice in your breasts at 13 will be normal hormonal development. If you're concerned, talk to your mum; if you don't feel comfortable about doing that, talk to your school nurse - she will be used to hearing worries like this from girls and will be able to reassure you. == Edit: @Goldie - in fact Sudhir is correct, most women diagnosed with breast cancer are post-menopausal. 80% of them are over 50, and the average age at diagnosis is a little over 60
4 :
Of course you can, its possible even men can get breast cancer. Women last longer than men with breast cancers. So yes, go to your doctor and go get check right away. I have even posted a YouTube video to prove to you its actually can happen to an 13 year old girl, so check it out! And remember to go to your doctor to get this checked please!
5 :
Extremely unlikely. Nevertheless, if there are any symptoms, they should be monitored by a doctor.
6 :
First of all Sundir is wrong in saying breast cancer usually attacks post-menopausal women. That's total garbage!!! At your age, it's extremely unlikey that you have breast cancer. If you notice any unusual changes, ie. lumps, nipple discharge, etc. then consult your Doctor.

Will this work for a thesis statement on breast cancer

Will this work for a thesis statement on breast cancer?
I am doing a research paper on breast cancer and psychological intervention. This is what I have for my thesis statement, need feedback please...... People survive breast cancer everyday through early detection and treatment, it is also known that psychological intervention can help have a better quality of life, rather than not having the psychological intervention at all.

Sounds as if you have a very interesting outline for your thesis. If you want any more information from a patient's view, go to www.after-cancer.com - hope it is helpful. Verite R
2 :
As a breast cancer survivor and the sister, niece, sister-in-law and good friend of breast cancer survivors I can tell you that for many people psychological intervention has no effect on the outcome. None of us met with any other mental health professionals and all coped well with the various treatments we underwent or with continuing our daily lives post treatment. The process of having to go through surgery, chemo and radiation and frequent dr. appointments is physically and financially draining. Add appointments with a mental health professional to that (when this benefit is often not covered by insurance) is almost too much on a person. From my experience, more women seek moral support from family and other women who have been through it before.
3 :
I am not sure that is true. The psychology does not stop the pain of going through cancer treatments, the pains of surgery, and the fatigue of radiation. My wife had two psychologists that we had when she first discovered she had cancer. One was more of a spiritual adviser and had a degree in counseling and the other was a psychiatrist. It helped her to cope with the idea of having cancer, but it did little to prevent the pain the treatment had on her body, the physical part of dealing with the disease. Mentally it helped her deal with her mortality. It helped her focus on what she was going through mentally. One on a spiritual level and the other on a mental level. Talking about her fears and seeing them in a different light helped to get her focus on getting well. It would have to be a mental aspect of having a better quality of life, because the physical is still there with all it's aches and pains. The fear is still there even though her psychology intervention has stopped. It helped a little, it got her mind on the right track but the fear never left. She is as afraid as she was before. And she is in more pain than she was before. So, it helped her to see her mortality and put her concentration on getting healthy again. Your thesis sentence needs a lot of work, but I am sure you just wanted us to see your main idea and what you will be writing about. Personally, I don't know if I buy it because in the end you are the one taking those steps, nobody else will be walking in your shoes. The physical pain is there, it is real. If psychology intervention could help with a better quality of life my wife would still be using that kind of therapy, but we really did not find it too useful.

If you have a double mascetomy can you still get breast cancer in the area in the future

If you have a double mascetomy can you still get breast cancer in the area in the future?
I have a friend with a very aggressive breast cancer and she only removed the lump stating that if she removed the breast her chances were not decreased of getting it again in the same area. Is this true?

1 :
i dont think so, but cancer is a sneaky thing. It may try to return in another area. Good luck with your friend. More and more women are chosing double mascetomies even if the cancer is only in 1 breast.
2 :
Yes, local recurrences can happen even after a mastectomy. I assume in your friend's case her medical team recommended a lumpectomy rather than a mastectomy and were able to get clear margins. Lumpectomy isn't a 'second best' to mastectomy, it depends on the individual patient's cancer. I had a mastectomy because as well as my tumour, I had pre-cancerous cells in other parts of my breast.
3 :
I was told by my Oncol that my risk of getting cancer in my breast again was about the same as getting it anywhere else.
4 :
It is always possible there are still tissues that get left behind that seemed to be cleaned during surgery.
5 :
I have an aggressive breast cancer and I am having chemo treatments before surgery. The tumors are visibly and palpably shrinking. I originally considered a full mastectomy of the affected breast (mine are quite small) but after talking with the surgeon, am currently thinking I'll go for lumpectomy with reconstruction. All of this is dependent on clear PET scans at the termination of treatments. Yes, even double mastectomy patients can get a recurrence of breast cancer is the small amount of tissue left behind. Also, any place breast cancer decides to grow, it's breast cancer (brain, lung, liver, bone).
6 :
Of course, there is tissue left after a mastectomy but the amount of tissue is so reduced that you have a much less chance of a local recurrence after a mast than after a lumpectomy. A lumpectomy definitely has a higher rate of local recurrence. Survival rate is the same as mastectomy, local recurrence rate is different. Recurrence can be a distant or a local recurrence. A distant receurrence is very bad. A distant recurrence can occur whether you have a lumpectomy or a mast. I had a double mastectomy and all 3 of my doctors and both second opinions have told me that I have a 98% 'cure' rate for my chest area and a 85%-90% 'cure' rate for the rest of my body. That being said, it's probably very important to your friend to save her breast and that's her choice and it should be respected and supported.

How do i stop fearing i am going to die from recurrence of breast cancer

How do i stop fearing i am going to die from recurrence of breast cancer?
I am sooooooooo scared that i am going to relapse soon and loose my life from metastatic breast cancer. I had triple negative breast cancer so between now and sometimes next year i am at a very high rate for relapsing. My ocologist says that if the cancer does return again that i will die. i don't know what to do. How do i stay strong in this and not be afraid?

You have a right to these fears. Contact a support group for breast cancer. Only they know what you're going through. I've seen so many people benefit from support groups. By the way, your Dr doesn't know your expiration date. He may be smart, but not that smart! In the meantime, learn meditation and positive focusing. It will help with the stress. Biofeedback or guided imagry tapes. Picture your healthy cells wiping out the bad cells. Reach out for help. Those that love you want to help, but need direction. Remember to laugh and hug! Keeping you in my prayers.
2 :
That is scary, and no one likes to face death in the eye. My only advise is go to a good Bible believing Church. Those who have a strong relationship with Christ can have peace. God promises if anyone calls on my name I will in no way cast out. He also promises never to leave us.
3 :
well its ok to be afraid. i kno i wud be. well i dont really believe in the prayin n goin to church thing but w/e gets you through right? what i would do in your case is prolly try to forget bout havin cancer and all those problems n focus on other things. like goin out with friend n havin fun n just enjoying what ever i would be doin. just try not to focus to much on the cancer. pretend like its not their. its easier said than done though
4 :
My wife has triple negative breast cancer too, what you need to do is live in the moment and do things to build up your immune system. I know about the road you have walked, it is a very difficult one and extremely stressful. Your oncologist should have told you about the possibility of recurrence. We had stage 2B TN and today completed the strategies of surviving it. The survival rate is between 80-85% with less than 3% chance of it coming back. I am afraid of the possibility of it coming back, I think it will be in the back of my mind, but we will go forward appreciating each day we are cancer free. Our lifestyle is changing we are more positive and eating right. We cut out drinking and are eating more organic foods. If cancer does return we will face it then, but not until then. We choose to go forward believing that cancer has passed and better things are ahead of us. You can worry so much you could go insane. At the moment you are cancer free so take each day believing and being positive. Cancer equals fear and bondage. Living in the moment cancer free will give you the appreciation of life and freedom from fear. Begin to believe that you are healthy will make that your reality. You have overcome so much and right now that part of your life is gone. You probably experienced chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery. These were to kill or remove cancer from your body. Believe it has happened, and chose to live. Make your life important by making your life meaningful by doing what you want to do and be the person you want to be. By giving of yourself, you are freeing yourself, and helping others. You need to see yourself as HEALED.
