http://info.means.it you can get much information in this website, If you will check anyone blue link in website.
2 :
Not sure what you mean by "screening." Typically after a lump is found they do a diagnostic mammogram/sonogram. This can resolve many suspicious lumps. The radiologist would know pretty much right away. If these 2 tests do not resolve the question, then they recommend (typically) a biopsy. This can take a week or 2 to get scheduled. Then the pathology report can take 2 weeks if it has to be sent out to another lab. So, try to be patient. Hopefully they will know today, but sometimes it takes weeks to get an answer.
3 :
It depends on how the hospital/facitlity is set up where your mother is going. I found out I had cancer the day that I had my mammogram. My hospital had a Breast Health center, and once they had mammogram pictures of my lump , there was someone immediately available for an ultrasound, and ultimately a biopsy. I will be praying that the lump is benign, remember most lumps are not cancerous!

Where can I find a list of meds associated with causing breast cancer

Where can I find a list of meds associated with causing breast cancer?
Could anyone please give me the links to some medical pages listing prescription medications that have been proven to heighten risk of breast cancer?

Meds rarely cause the disease ... other factors are more serious for concern ... Thank s to James and Rhonda, for literating about the 'Other' side of the disease, facts are mind boggling: You can learn more about James' and Rhonda's mission by seeing their site at the bottom of this answer. Other facts on CANCER ? 1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size. 2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime. 3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors. 4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors. 5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system. 6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastrointestinal tract etc., and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc. .... ..... ..... ... for more n more visit the related weblink below ... more ... An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply. CANCER CELLS FEED ON: a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc. are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in color. Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt. b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastrointestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened Soy milk cancer cells are being starved. Soy in Moderation. c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer. d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. Cover food with a paper towel instead. {NOTE: a regular plate cover sold in stores for microwaves is the best item to use for covering anything in the microwave} This is an article that should be sent to anyone important in your life. I don't think you'll find a reliable list. These articles may be of interest: http://www.ionchannels.org/showabstract.php?pmid=17487555 http://www.prozactruth.com/cancer.htm The known risk factors for breast cancer are: Increasing age - this is the greatest risk factor. Most cases (approximately 80%) of breast cancers occur in post-menopausal women (women aged over 50 years). Having children at at an older age or not at all. The more children a woman has may also slightly lower her risk. Breast-feeding helps protect against the disease. The longer a woman breast feeds her children, the more she lowers her risk. Starting periods at a younger than average age (under 12) or having a late menopause (after 55) . Taking the contraceptive pill or hormone replacement therapy (HRT) causes a small increase in risk. However, the risk gradually returns to normal after you stop taking them. Being overweight (especially after the menopause). Regularly drinking more than 1 unit of alcohol per day slightly increases the risk of breast cancer. Having a previous diagnosis of breast cancer increases the risk of developing a new cancer in the other breast. Hereditary factors account for 5 - 10% of cases.

I like Volunteer's answers, and agree with most all of it that I understand. Some things weren't clear to me, but that doesn't mean it's wrong. Good advice. One thing is that I'm not sure I trust microwaves. My wife and I put ours in the attic 7 years ago and it's still up there. Aluminum-based deodorants/anti-perspirants can put you at more risk. Cooking with aluminum pans is not good. Eating meat laced with hormones is not good. Chicken is especially bad as it's designed to make the chicken breast grow abnormally fast (I think 6 weeks) so that it makes it more profitable. I think the hormones are artificial, which is probably really bad. Ever notice why little girls hit puberty at 8 years old these days when it was previously later teens? Yep, artificial hormones. Beef is also a lot of times laced with antibiotics and gmo feed. Being overweight doesn't help. Linus Pauling, a chemist, did cancer research that was heralded back in the 60s that found when cells are cut off from the oxygen supply they mutate and go anaerobic, or cancerous, and start multiplying like crazy. That research has been largely squashed now. If you're immune system has not been rendered helpless with things like chemo, it will seal off the mutating cells in an attempt to cut them off from doing more damage. It's your body's way of fighting. I've read about treatments on http://www.cancertutor.com that says they can help anaerobic cells return to normal, but I'm not sure about this, it's the first time I've read that. I'm sure there's others, but keeping your body clean and free from garbage is one of the keys. Another words, it's about behavior that reduces your risk of developing cancer. T. Colin Campbell's work in the The China Study I believe addresses why the non-western diet is a powerful preventative measure and why the (rural?) Chinese are much healthier by and large. I have read breast tissue is made up of fat, I don't know if that's true or to what extent, but that fat combined with being overweight which adds more fat to that area seems like it would be trouble and could cause more cells to be potentially starved for oxygen. Also, my wife is an ND and says that she wouldn't even think about getting yearly breast screenings. Expose them to radiation that causes mutations. Not a good idea! Want a good way to cause cancer? I think that would about be #1 on my list of things to avoid assuming I tried to keep my diet and the rest of my life clean as far as cancer-causing exposure goes. If I were on the traditional American (e.g., western) diet, were overweight and had other high risk indicators, then it would be a tough question whether I'd go for yearly screenings.

How high risk am I for getting breast cancer

How high risk am I for getting breast cancer?
My Mom is medium risk she would be high risk but she did not go into puberty in till she was like 16.There is breast cancer in the family my aunt had it and I think some other family members have had it.I started puberty at like 9 and by 11 I was a B cup and had my period. How high is the chance of me getting breast cancer? When should I get a mammogram(Im 13 so I dont need one for a long time)? When should I start doing self checks?

my mom and i are at high risk also. u could be higher risk than ur mother but tht doesnt mean ur high, high risk. my mom always told me to just lightly feel around the armpit and breast area for any lumps. if u feel anything out of the ordinary tell ur mom and have her feel it. she will no if its a lump or not. if it is get it removed b4 it spreads. breast cancer is risky for children whos mother is at risk for the cancer.
2 :
You can start doing self checks now if you want. There are lots of sites that explain how to do them. You shouldn't start worrying about that now (you're only 13). When you turn 18 and start going to the Gyno they will also check your breasts every year.
3 :
you are. anything in you gene pool like caner is always a threat.my gynocologist told be that anything that doesn't move when you press on isn't natural. if you feel and bump its hard, go to a gyno. as you grow your body's going to change. I'm 20 and im still changing and learning about my body. i wouldn't worry. when your 16 i would start going to the gyno. just have fun.your young.
4 :
What you can do is eat lots & lots of vegetable very regularly. Same w/ fruits. And avoid foods & drink that have high sugar and partially hydrogenated oils in them (my mom called it the "H-word") Also, no aspartame.Aspartame is found in most sugar-free foods & drink (like Diet Coke, Sweet N' Low) All of these have been known to lead to a higher risk of getting cancer. Try to eat as little junk food as possible. Healthy, & often raw foods (like raw fruit & vegetables) are very helpful when you're avoiding cancer. My mother had breast cancer when she was 39-40 years old, & unfortunately she died from it, but when she was going through treatment, she gave my siblings & I some good insights on what she would/could have done to prevent the cancer. Also, eat raw garlic. It sounds nasty, but it supports breast health. And take vitamins every day (the ones I take are called Juice Plus. You can get them in capsules or chewables. I think at Hi-Health is where I got them.) Eat a wide variety of vegetables & fruits every day. This will lower your risk of getting cancer. Especially if you have a high immune system. I don't know what a mammogram is, but you should check your breasts for lumps (feel around, it's a bit awkward to say it, but it's helpful). Remember this analogy: feeling a bowl of oatmeal is normal; but feeling a peanut in the bowl is not. (The oatmeal is your boob, lol). Also, NEVER sleep w/ a bra on. It's very bad to do that. (It presses down on & binds your breasts down while you're rolling or tossing in your sleep, which damages the tissues inside your breasts.) SLeeping w/ a loose camisole is okay, as long as the bra part is loose & isn't too binding. Since you're still young, so you need to start now w/ your prevention of breast cancer. It's crucial. If you need any more info, my e-mail link is on my page. Good luck! :)

How many maximum days a patient can spend before starting chemotherapy and after the breast cancer surgery

How many maximum days a patient can spend before starting chemotherapy and after the breast cancer surgery ?
I would like to know that how urgent is the chemotherapy after the breast cancer surgery. The patient is 51 yr of age lady and has a Stage-III tumor (3.5x3.5x3cm) which was removed by MRM. and what are the precautions to be taken while, during and after the chemotherapy. The patient also has Hyper tension and is diabetic.

Every doctor is different on their opinion on when to start chemo. The doctor is also the person that you need to speak to about your chemo questions. That is the person to trust for accurate information, not any strangers here. This is someones life you're talking about. Go to the right source.
2 :
The patient's doctor will need to determine that. A lot has to do with current health, strength, cancer's spread, medications, etc. Unfortunately there is no one answer as everyone and every cancer is different. Some it can occur the same day while most it is later based on the above info. A person who is diabetic and hypertensive there will be a number of things to watch based on the level of these diseases affect her. I know this is not a direct answer but there are far to many variables that come into play. I hope this at least helps a little and I wish you and your friend all the best. Good luck
3 :
Yeah, what the other two said. Drs really want to start chemo as soon as surgery site is healed. I had to wait right at a month because I got an infection in my incision. My docs were getting a little panicky, keeping me coming in to check the infection and how well it was healing.
4 :
Many doctors are now not using chemotherapy for breast cancer. I'd get 2-3 other opinions. Myself- I was diagnosed with infiltrating intraductal breast cancer-- the most common kind and is invasive. I turned down chemo, radiation and surgery and focused on an intensive raw food diet and lots of juicing and cured myself naturally of breast cancer, eleven years ago. I'm still in perfect health today. All my other ailments went away in the first month-- fibromyalgia, arthritis, acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, etc.-- long list. And of course the breast cancer was never given a chance to continue its growth as I boosted my immune system and gave it raw foods that didn't let the breast cancer grow. Nurse Sue ( R.N.)

I can't see an expiration date stamped on the bottom of your foot. (: Use a facility that SPECIALIZES in the treatment of cancer.
2 :
www.livestrong.org The American Cancer Society also offers a variety of vital services to cancer patients, including a 24-hour information line staffed by cancer specialists. These highly trained operators can answer questions about treatment options and available local services, such as no-cost transportation to and from treatments, cancer support groups and -- for women receiving chemotherapy -- sessions that offer cosmetology assistance and free wigs. No one has to suffer from cancer alone. A helpful and knowledgeable voice is only a phone call away: 800-ACS-2345.
3 :
There is a surgery that removes mo many lymph node that I thought that they lied to be, but it is true. Go to a cancer hospital, take Jesus with you.
4 :
I'm really sorry that you got this after going through breast cancer. It doesn't seem fair does it. but no one can tell you what your life expectancy is. You could go into remission for a long time but it's a question I know I would even try to answer. I don't think anyone here can say how long you have. Only God knows that. You were diagnosed in Aug of 08 and just a few months later in Nov. 08, I had a bi-lateral mastectomy. I just pray in years to come no rogue cancer cells went on a trip in my body. I know that if it does happen, I only pray I can deal with it. You have my prayers and support. Maybe you should ask this question with your Dr. He would be the best qualified to answer this. God bless you.
5 :
That probably depends on whether your current treatment is able to stop the metastases from moving to other parts. The important thing is to have lots of love in your life. Tell your loved ones you love them, and do what you can to survive and love them.. imho...
6 :
I couldn't say what your life expectancy is...I think that would be a good question to ask your doctor though... I've had several people in my family who had cancer. My aunt had cancer in her lymph nodes and after rigorous chemo/radiation treatments, she has now been in remission for 3 years. My dad had/has brain cancer and he was given 6 months to live. I felt like I was walking on egg shells during those months. It has been 6 years since my dad was diagnosed. The point I'm trying to get it is, even if they say youonly have 1 year to live, you could actually live longer. Just keep a positive attitude about it. And if you believe in prayer, ask everyone you know to pray for you. If your constantly thinking about how sick you are, that'll just make you depressed, and that could ultimately affect your immume system. I know it's easier said than done, but really try to stay positive. I think that's what got my aunt and dad through their cancer treatments. This experience can bring a new perspective to life.
7 :
This is definitely a question for your doctor/oncologist. Everyone is different when it comes to cancer and there is no way anyone on this site can answer the question. Good luck and very sorry you have secondaries.
8 :
It is rather soon for your cancer to have progressed especially if you are on hormone treatment. It is fairly common to see patients with stage 4 breast cancer survive 15-20 years. Without having all of your records available it is impossible to know if you would be an exception for some reason, but it is not likely you are. We are better able to manage this disease all the time and hopefully soon we will know how to extend this time even further. Whenever you are faced with a serious disease or decision you should always get a second opinion. I think you should get one from a doctor at a teaching facility as they see the most unusual cases, are on the cutting edge of treatment and conduct clinical trials and research. This will give them a different perspective at looking at your case. I am very sorry for your bad news. Stay strong.
9 :
try www.breastcancer.org It's good for lots of different information about breast cancer and I think there is a discussion group for complimentary therapies.
10 :
We are extremely sorry for your sad condition and pray in earnest that you live for very many years. Your results were known after a TNM? But the good news for you is that : My elderly lady friend has had cancer of the breast, detected 20 years ago..having gone to the IV stage, the stage known as "inoperable". The thing that has helped her is the mushroom powder and the powders from: (a) a South African shrub Chaparral, also known as creosote bush and (b) Suther Landia Frutoscens. This plant(b) is one of the best cure for cancer and also used in the treatment of HIV/AIDS, a South African plant!! Instead of worrying about your life expectancy get the powders from those table mushrooms and from the shrub the Suther Landlia Frutoscens...urgently!!! Hope this helps......

Can a seventeen year old girl get breast cance

Can a seventeen year old girl get breast cancer?
I'm healthy, I eat right, I run, I'm not a drinker or a smoker. But I have lumps in my breast, one lump larger then the other. They're painful to the touch, and a only slightly moveable. They seem to be connected to my ribs. I need to know if there's even the slightest chance this could be cancer. I need at least an inkling of an idea before I tell my mother to bring me to the doctor.

1 :
It's possible. More than likely it's just breast tissue that's developing. Go see a doctor about it. You can get it done at Planned Parenthood too if you'd rather not have your mom take you. They can also do a pap smear which you should have done if you are sexually active. It will be all in one appointment
2 :
Yes, a seventeen year old could get breast cancer. There was a 10 year old a year or two back that had it.
3 :
Being healthy, smoking and what you eat has nothing to do with breast cancer. Yes it is possible 1.3 in I million girls 15-19 years old get breast cancer. Roughly 2.5 times the odds of being struck by lightning. EDIT: Oh lo_mcg you are so good I don’t even bother to answer these breast cancer questions you already have.
4 :
It's possible but to the best of my knowledge, cancer tumors are not usually painful. See a doc amd put your mind at ease.
5 :
It's beyond unlikely; as Denise points out, your chances of being struck by lightning are over twice as great as the chances of you having breast cancer at 17. Breast cancer is almost unheard of in under 25s and fewer than 0.1% of all those diagnosed with it are under 30. Anyone under 50 is considered young for breast cancer. And most breast lumps, even in women over 50, aren't cancer; 80% of breast lumps considered serious enough for biopsy are found to be benign. And pain is rarely a sign of breast cancer; most people diagnosed with breast cancer have felt no pain at all. The American Cancer Society and other cancer organisations recommend that women begin breast self-exams at no younger than 20, if then - some cancer professionals say 30. Before that it's pointless firstly because there are so many hormonal changes that there is no 'normal' - and self examination is about a woman knowing what's normal for her and reporting any changes. And secondly because the chance of breast cancer is almost nil. Talk to your mother; she may well be able to reassure you. Btw, the 10 year old who was reported as having breast cancer actually had a rare childhood cancer that happened to be located in the breast area, rather than adult breast cancer as was at first reported.
6 :
Yes, teenage girls can get cancer located within the chest wall and under the armpits . . the confusion you are reading comes about because adolescents and children rarely get adult types of breast cancer. But cancer can occur at any age and appear in the chest or breast as a sarcoma or lymphoma rather than a carcinoma (more common in adult women). No one here can really tell you what is going on with this lump you describe . . the fact that it appears to be connected to the ribs is concerning, especially if this is a sarcoma. Sarcoma more frequently occurs in the young. Sarcoma can appear in the muscles, cartiliage, tendons, joints, bones, fat, and soft tissue anywhere in the body including the chest and breast quadrants. The good news with your description is that cancer lumps are almost never painful . . they are painless . .so the fact you are feeling pain may mean this is an infection or cyst or something like a pulled muscle . . no one can really tell you what. I do know that anytime you feel pain enough to make a complaint than you should have this checked out by a doctor. Do not ignore this. Tell your mother.

Can a blood clot in the breast be a sign of breast cancer

Can a blood clot in the breast be a sign of breast cancer?
Also whats the youngest you can be to get breast cancer?
Cancer - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
I'm not sure what you mean by a blood clot in the breast, but the spot you described in your other question in Women's Health does not sound like a breast cancer symptom. If it's still there in a week or so, see your doctor. I see from your Q&A that you're 16; at your age the chances of having breast cancer are close to zero. It's mainly a disease of ageing; 80% of those diagnosed with it are over 50, it's rare in women under 40 and almost unheard of in under 25s. The American Cancer Society and other cancer organisations recommend that women begin breast self-examination at 20 - there's a reason for that. So try not to worry about breast cancer. As I said before, if the spot/bump on your breast is still there in a few days, see your doctor.
2 :
honey i saw this and your other question, and you DO NOT by ANY MEANS have cancer. Check out your bras. Once, when i was 18 (3 years ago) i noticed an almost black spot on my left breast. My first thought: OH SHIT< MELANOMA! ALL THOSE TOPLESS TANNING SESSIONS ARE FINALLY GOING TO KILL ME! I'm too young to die of anything, let alone cancer! My second thought: well, it's not raised, so it CAN'T be melanoma... Hours later: oh noooo it's raised, it IS melanoma or some other skin-cancer, and it's AGGRESSIVE! then i realized one of my favorite bras' wire on that side (yes i have certain bras that i love) had broken and was not painfully poking, but poking nonetheless, right there. What i had was not cancer, what sent me in a blood-pressure raising PANIC all day, was a mere blood-blister of sorts from a pesky bra wire.... and it went away within a week or two... i didn't count, i just noticed one day "oh hey, it's gone". check out your bras, and good luck!
3 :
I have never heard of a blood clot having anything to do with breast cancer. Breast cancer is a mass, or lump or inflammation of the breast tissue. Advanced age is the biggest risk factor for all cancers, also starting your period before age 12, having your FIRST child after age 30, late menopause and long term hormore replacement therapy. There is also a genetic risk of breast cancer, so if you have a Mom or sister that has breast, colorectal or ovarian cancer then you may share the same BRCA-1 or BRCA-2 gene that they carry which is linked to those cancers. Just because you have the gene does not mean that you will develop cancer, it just increases your risk. you should do a self exam of your breast 1 week after your period ends--lie down with one arm under your head, start in the arm pit and use the pads of your fingertips to make a complete circle around your breast from the outside all the way in to your nipples, then pinch the nipples to check for discharge, also, look at your breast in the mirror checking that they look the same size with your hands on your hips and raising both arms above your head -they should lift/flex evenly, if your nipple is retracted (sunk in), has a crust/discharge, or if the skin of your breast are shiny, swollen, or look like an orange peel (dimpled) then these are abnormal signs. have a doctor do a clinical breast exam every 3 years, and have a mamogram yearly after age 40. signs/symptoms A nonmovalble mass that is hard and painless, shiny swollen breasts, skin that resembles an orange peel, a nipple that ais sunk in or have discharge/crust...see your doctor.
4 :
I'm not sure about a blood clot being a sign of breast cancer... but if you're concerned about something you noticed go see your doctor. It may be caused by something totally non life threatening, or be nothing to worry about at all. In either case talking to a doctor may make you feel better.

What stage of breast cancer does this sound like to you

What stage of breast cancer does this sound like to you?
Okay today my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer unfortunately. The cancer is in the right side of her right breast. She has a lump on her breast, i think that's the tumor, anyways it's approximately 1.8 cm. In january she had her annual mammogram check up and that was negative and fine. In june she noticed the lump and a biopsy revealed it was cancer.

too early to tell yet she will probably have the lump removed and a check of the nodes under the armpit this will 'stage' the cancer
2 :
Until further investigation it is impossible to stage, stage 1 or 2 are most likely.
3 :
That would be stage II most likely.....
4 :
Look on wikipedia it stages cancer there.
5 :
My nana has breast cancer and she gets lumps but some of 'those lumps' aren't cancer. Only time will tell.
6 :
I am sorry to hear about your mom, you will not know for sure what stage she is in until further testing however here is a general guideline for breast cancer: Stage 0: Pre-cancerous or non-invasive cells are found – in milk ducts. Stage 1: Small lump (< 2cm in diameter) – no lymph nodes involved. Stage 2: Larger lump > 2 cm or has spread to lymph nodes in armpit. Stage 3: Involves skin, deep muscle or many armpit nodes. May have spread to nodes under neck or under breastbone. Stage 4: Has spread (metastasis) beyond the breast area into other areas. TNM: T for tumour size, N for node involvement, M for metastasis. I hope the best for your family.
