How can you get breast cancer

How can you get breast cancer?
I'm no doctor or genius with this stuff. I just wanted to know what are some things that women do that can develop breast cancer in them? Do they get it out of the blue by not taking care of themselves (if so, in what ways?) and it just sort of happens, or is there something all women can do to prevent getting it in the 1st place? My overall question is just...how do you get it?

Well you have a bigger chance of getting it if someone in your family had Cancer (mother, father, grandmother). Eating healthy, and exercise helps prevent all kinds of Cancer's (and overall keep you more healthy), I think that's the best you can do. Also, it's important to get tested on time (after a certain age every few months go for a checkup) when you catch it fast the chance of recovery is very very high.

I think no one knows exactly what causes it, you can be very careful with your life and still get it. some people think antiperspirant deodorant is a cause

Most of the risk factors for breast cancer are not about choices. For example, being an Ashkenazi Jew puts you at higher risk due to a inherited gene mutation. In fact, genetics, either at the basic level or due to the type of breasts you have accounts for much of it. Barring that, yes, prolonged estrogen use (certain types of birth control) raises your risk, not having or breastfeeding children or having them after 30 also raises the risk. So does hormone replacement therapy after menopause. Unlike some other types of cancer, which do pop up out of the blue seemingly, breast cancer has a very well understood list of risk factors. Just as a trivia point, men also get breast cancer, believe it or not.

Nobody knows exactly what causes breast cancer, but we do know that certain risk factors are linked to the disease. A risk factor is anything that affects a person's chance of getting a disease such as cancer. Different cancers have different risk factors. Some risk factors, such as smoking, drinking, and diet are linked to things a person does. Others, like a person's age, race, or family history, can't be changed. But having a risk factor, or even many, doesn’t mean that a person will get the disease. Although many risk factors may increase your chance of developing breast cancer, it is not yet known exactly how some of these risk factors cause cells to become cancerous. Hormones seem to play a role in many cases of breast cancer, but just how this happens is not fully understood. Some women who have one or more risk factors never get breast cancer. And most women who do get breast cancer don’t have any risk factors. While all women are at risk for breast cancer, the factors listed below can increase a woman’s chances of having the disease. The chance of getting breast cancer goes up as a woman gets older. About 2 out of 3 women with invasive breast cancer are age 55 or older when the cancer is found. Breast cancer risk is higher among women whose close blood relatives have this disease. The relatives can be from either the mother’s or father’s side of the family. Having a mother, sister, or daughter with breast cancer about doubles a woman’s risk. (It's important to note that 70% to 80% of women who get breast cancer do not have a family history of this disease.) Women who began having periods early (before age 12) or who went through the change of life (menopause) after the age of 55 have a slightly increased risk of breast cancer. I hope it help. good luck

Cancer happens when normal cells change so that they grow in an uncontrolled way. This uncontrolled growth causes a tumour to form. Nobody knows what causes this to happen. Cancer specialists don't know, so nobody here will. It is most certainly not caused by not taking care of yourself. No particular diet or food has been shown to cause, prevent, treat or cure it. I once thought my healthy organic vegan diet would protect me against breast cancer, but it didn't. While nobody knows the cause, there are recognised risk factors for breast cancer, some preventable, some out of your control. Getting older is the biggest risk factor - 80% of those diagnosed with it are over 50. The other risk factors are: Genetic – but only 5-10% of breast cancers are genetic/hereditary Having children at an older age or not at all. The more children a woman has may also slightly lower her risk. Breast-feeding helps protect against the disease. The longer a woman breastfeeds her children, the more she lowers her risk. Starting periods at a younger than average age (under 12) or having a late menopause (after 55) . Taking the contraceptive pill or hormone replacement therapy (HRT) causes a small increase in risk. However, the risk gradually returns to normal after you stop taking them. Being overweight (especially after the menopause). Regularly drinking more than 1 unit of alcohol per day slightly increases the risk of breast cancer. Having a previous diagnosis of breast cancer increases the risk of developing a new cancer in the other breast. Remember these are only risk factors - someone may tick all of these boxes, and never get cancer, and someone with none of them may still get breast cancer. Many people, invariably those who have not had or studied cancer, have a pet theory about what causes cancer. You already have answers putting it down to diet and nonsense like cell phones, deodorants, bleach etc. That's because it's easier for people who haven't had cancer to 'blame the victim' - to put an individual's cancer down to their lifestyle - rather than accept that it is a random, and still mysterious, disease that can strike any of us at any time
