how much more awareness can there be?we are bombed day in and day out with it.on the news, posters, ads,PSA's. i know all about it.
2 :
When I was in high school our health teacher and some volunteers bought some pink ribbon and cut little strips and curved them into that awareness ribbon shape, you know it's kind of like a loop, and clipped them with safety pins to make pins you can wear. Then they sold them for like a dollar or something each. The rolls of ribbon cost like 35 cents each. They went class to class every day for about a week and sold them at lunch and at the doors of sporting events. It doesn't sound like much, but it was really successful. I suppose it's more successful the bigger the student body is. I hope you have a lot of students at your school. If you have health teachers at your school tell them to spread the word. I'm sure they'd love to help. Any teacher should for that matter. Good luck!

Perhaps you can do a Relay for Life. They have all sorts of links for fun activities kids can do

Without going to the doctor; how can a person know if they have breast cancer

Without going to the doctor; how can a person know if they have breast cancer?
Also what are the possible ways to get breast cancer?

well, you would need a mammogram machine as well as knowing how to interpret the results, besides performing monthly breast exams. As far as getting breast cancer, several factors: -genetics, if a family member had it you are at a higher risk than an average person -age of menarche starting, earlier increases your chances -age of menopause, the later the onset the higher the risk -nulliparity and not breast feeding has shown an increase for risk -smoking, alcohol, chemicals there might be a few more i'm forgetting best advice, don't skip the visit to the doctor. It is not worth the risk
2 :
You can't. I had what I thought was a blocked milk duct when I was 8 months pregnant, and it turned out to be breast cancer. If you have found something that doesn't seem right, go to the doctor. I was pretty lucky. Although I had 3 tumors, one of which was 4cm, it had not spread. I know they always talk about early detection, but it is true. Good luck!
3 :
there's no sure way to tell until they have done a biopsy, you can have a mammogram and still not definitely know. A biopsy is the removal of a piece of tissue from the breast for examination to confirm or establish a diagnosis, estimate prognosis, or follow the course of the disease.
4 :
Check your breast regularly, feel for lumps, etc My wife was breast feeding our son, he was 10months old & she was in pain, thinking it was just mastitis(hope thats how you spell it) & the little bloke would suck it through. It wasn't, she had 3 grade 3 tumours 3.5cm & 2 X 2 cm ones. After a Mastectomy & 6 months of the worst F******** chemo, etc( which almost took her life)she is still with us ( 4 years on now) PLEASE don't chance it, if you suspect anything , get your @rse to the doctors. I don't want anyone going through what My wife, Kid's & I went through, or the tens of thousands of other Families out there are living with for that matter
5 :
The other people are correct. Do not wait. I am a radiation therapist in the Texas Medical Center and I have treated some awful cases of breast cancer when I was working at MD Anderson Cancer Center and I have seen some difficult cases working at my current job. Early detection is always best. My most difficult cases are my young women (under 35) that present with an advanced stage breast cancer. In addition to mammograms, please see if you will be able to have an ultra-sound done because mammograms are becoming a thing of the past. They have missed so many tumors that technology is moving toward breast MRIs and Ultrasounds.

what is the liklihood of surviving breast cancer

i know so many people have it nowadays nd they do get better but then again some dont. my great aunt was meant to come visit us overseas but she was recently diagnosed with it nd it breaks my heart to think of all the pain she's gonna have to go through. her sister (my grandma) also had breast cancer about 10 yrs ago but she got better.

It depends on the stage of the disease. At stage 0-1 the 5-year survival rate is 100% at stage 4 it is 20%. At stage 0-1 she may not have too much pain either.

Is it possible for a 12 year old girl to have breast cancer

Is it possible for a 12 year old girl to have breast cancer ?
My friend has a lump in her breast and she doesn't know whether it is breast cancer or not. Her mum says that it may be an infected milk duct but she isn't pregnant. Please help. If you have any information about what it could be please include that aswell. Thankyou.

she should go see a doctor her mother should of thought of that one too
2 :
yes
3 :
It may also just be a harmless cyst, it's nearly impossible that your friend had breast cancer. Her mother should take her to see a doctor though to find out what ti actually is.
4 :
No.. that would be unheard of.
5 :
No; the chances of a 12 year old having breast cancer are just about zero. If she did have it her case would make headline news, and would be written up in medical journals the world over. You know, when I was diagnosed with breast cancer I was classed as a 'younger woman. Why? Because I was only 50, which is pretty young for breast cancer. Breast cancer is almost unheard of in under 25s (let alone preteens); fewer than 0.1% of all those diagnosed with it are under 30 and only 5% are under 40. Most (80%) are over 50. And even in women over 50, most breast lumps aren't cancerous. Your friend's breasts are just starting to grow and develop; any changes she notices, including lumps, are almost certainly normal breast development. Breasts are pretty lumpy, bumpy things anyway - if you feel them with the tips of your fingers, you'll almost always find lumps. Suggest to your friend that she has a talk with her school nurse; she will be used to girls having worries like this and will be able to reassure your friend that she does NOT have breast cancer
6 :
Hi, it's true that this would be really unheard of in that age group. Even though it would be very very very rare to see breast cancer at that age, your friend should still get a doctor to examine her. At the same time, I am hoping that more and more girls that age know that starting good nutrition about the time of puberty is the best time to start preventing breast cancer. Science shows that when girls start eating well about the time of puberty, especially soy foods, that breast cancer in adult years is less likely.
7 :
Yes, even though it's not common. For some people, breast cancer is genetically inherited. Tell your friend to discuss with her mom and seek doctor (if possible).
8 :
Possible, but extremely rare.

http://www.pinkribbonshop.com/mens-items.aspx There aren't too many items out there for that for men. Sadly enough. This site does have two t-shirts you could run in and the bike jersey which you could also run in.
2 :
You could probably just get one sewn on to one of your shirts easily enough. Just a suggestion.
3 :
You can buy men's breast cancer awareness shirts on eBay at http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=9&pub=5574634183&toolid=10001&campid=5335994191&customid=&icep_uq=breast+cancer+shirt&icep_sellerId=&icep_ex_kw=&icep_sortBy=12&icep_catId=1059&icep_minPrice=&icep_maxPrice=&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg

Is it possible for me to have breast cancer

Is it possible for me to have breast cancer?
I'm 13, and I want to know if I have breast cancer. I have a lump around my nipple and my nipple is actually a little purple. But my other breast is perfectly fine. Is it possible for me to have breast cancer? My breast actually hurts a little bit when I move around.

No its not. Not at your age. you are probably either just entering puberty, or in the middle of it. You'll be okay, just tell your doctor your concerns. i'm sure he'll tell you the same thing. A friend of mine went through the same thing, only with her, it was both breasts. She had brown splotchhes and purple coloring like you. The doctor told her it was common in Latino skin types
2 :
This sounds more like hormonal changes in developing breast tissue than breast cancer. Breast cancer is incredibly rare in women under 20, which is why a recently diagnosed 10 year old made world wide headlines. Talk to your mother, school nurse or some other adult you know and trust, they will be able to relieve your concerns or take you to see a Dr if that is warranted.
3 :
NO, no possibility.... You are being too anxious. You will be fine.

Is it safe to have sex with someone with breast cancer

Is it safe to have sex with someone with breast cancer?
Is there anything unsafe about having sex with someone with breast cancer? Will things be transferred that are unhealthy or that can make the male sick?
Cancer - 11 Answers

1 :
It's completely safe. Breast cancer isn't contagious.
2 :
Yeah, Because cancer is definitely a STD.
3 :
I hear it will give you the stupid... oh wait, it seems you already have it. No dude it's fine.
4 :
Yes. But only if the woman has an STD, or is physically ill in some other way also.
5 :
Sorry, not trying to offend, but this is the most stupid question ever heard. No, cancer ain't sexually disease. Although the only problem is if you have a child with this person there is a chance in the future of your kid acquire this disease.
6 :
I think if you are asking this question that you are too young to be having sex. Wait a few years
7 :
what kind of dumb question is this? clearly you're too immature to even be having sex.
8 :
Yes of course its safe >>> For you to ask this question You are too young for sex with someone
9 :
You have a valid concern especially if the patient is going through chemotherapy. My wife's oncologist told us that we should avoid bodily fluids when engaging in sexual activity a few days after chemo-treatment. So condoms should be used, avoid kissing, and oral sex (you giving it) should not be done a few days after chemotherapy (not that she would have that much energy to engage in sex) Chemotherapy drugs are extremely toxic.
10 :
Proper birth control and it's probably not a great idea to introduce anything that may be contaminated into the woman's body while she's on chemo. If she feels like it, sure. The male would be a little selfish and naive to not consider the woman and her health before worrying about his own.
11 :
Just be sure to "dress for the sport" honey. Otherwise it is completely safe.
