I think the Mariah Carey song Hero would be good. It talks about being strong and stuff like that.

I Run for Life: Melissa Ethredge I am not my Hair: India.Arie My Beautiful Life: Lindsay Lohan The Best: Tina Turner I Believe: Diamond Rio

Great question and a great project you're working on. I think Jennifer C, one of your answerers, may have hit on several great tunes. The best one that tops my head is Melissa Etheridge's "I Run For Run For Life" as she is one of the prominent celebrities that has fallen victim to breast cancer. On a side note, during a multi-network show that aired back in October called Stand Up For Breast Cancer, I think she even changed the lyrics of her song from "I Run" to "I Stand" to match the theme of the special. That was very cool. Anyway, try to think of tunes that highlight a person's inner strength and character. You may even try to do a search of 'songs of strength' on Google or Yahoo!. How about this one: "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor. Hope we've helped. Mark the CharityPlush.com team

Okay today my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer unfortunately. The cancer is in the right side of her right?
Okay today my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer unfortunately. The cancer is in the right side of her right breast. She has a lump on her breast, i think that's the tumor, anyways it's approximately 1.8 cm. In january she had her annual mammogram check up and that was negative and fine. In june she noticed the lump and a biopsy revealed it was cancer.

I'm sorry for this. Speak to your mum and talk through it with her. You will both be hurting and this is the time for you to stay together and speak. Good luck with your journey
2 :
I am very sorry to hear that. My aunt just had a double masectomy in April and is undergoing chemo for her breast cancer. Fortunately she was in stage one and expected to be fully recovered at the end of her treatments. Sometimes mammograms do not always detect lumps right away but if detected early the cure rate for breast cancer is quite high. Best of luck to you and your mom. She'll need you to stay strong and make sure to be a big help for whatever she needs.

Eleven years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer after I felt a lump on the right side of my right breast on the upper outer quadrant. Then had an abnormal mammogram and then an excisional biopsy which confirmed the breast cancer diagnosis. Right side tumor about the same size- infiltrating intraductal cancer. I turned down chemo, radiation and surgery and immediately started a raw food diet and lots of juicing. It cured my cancer and I'm in perfect health today. Nurse Sue (R.N.)

Hello, I'm sorry to hear about your mom. My grandma was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and died a few years ago. I still miss her terribly and don't go a day without thinking of her. It sounds like you really should talk with your mom and spend time with her. I would do anything to have my chance back just to talk to her. An article was just recently published about breast cancer and some of the reasons it develops. In the article it also mentions some things we can do to lower the chances of getting breast cancer. I hope you find this article helpful! http://www.selfgrowthengine.com/health-and-wellness/nutrition/articles/do-cleaning-products-cause-breast-cance

How can I take precautions for Breast Cancer

How can I take precautions for Breast Cancer?
My mother has been recently diagnosed with breast cancer. It is not hereditary & she is healthy. She has in her DNA some predisposition to getting it based on certain environmental factors. I am assuming this is related to hormone replacement therapy drugs she took when she was going through menopause. Understandably so, there is a risk factor associated with breast cancer and these drugs that were studied and this conclusions still remains to be proven. My question is my choice to get on birth control, as it is one form of hormone replacement. Will this heighten my own risk to get breast cancer down the line? I am early 30s and healthy.

Birth control seems to slightly raise the risk of breast cancer while you are taking it. When you stop taking it, the risk goes back to normal. It sounds like your mother didn't get breast cancer in her 30s, which means that you don't have a high risk of getting it now. Environmental factors that will prevent breast cancer: The more kids you have, the lower your risk. The earlier you have them, the lower your risk. The more you breastfeed them, the lower your risk. Birth control isn't really the same as hormone replacement. Birth control simulates pregnancy. HRT attempts to recreate normal (non-pregnant) hormone levels. Birth control usually has low levels of estrogen; HRT has high levels of estrogen.
2 :
The link between hormone replacement therapy and breast cancer has been established. However, birth control does not increase the risk. The amount of hormones used in the pill was decreased in the 1970s and has remained quite low. The only real precaution you can take is to have annual mammograms when it is time. Most of the risk factors are out of our control. 75% of all breast cancers occur in postmenopausal women.

Is it possible to have breast cancer at 16

Is it possible to have breast cancer at 16?
About 3 weeks ago a large red spot showed up on my left breast. It went away but there is now a small piece of hard skin in that area. It doesn't hurt, but I don't know what it is. I know i'm only 16 so i shouldn't be worried but breast cancer runs in my family.

at your age is practical impossible. i`m sure it`s nothing
2 :
Its probably where the spot has healed up. Like when you have a big scab, once the scab has gone, there is thick skin there. As you said,it is unlikely you have cancer. Maybe talk to someone in your family about it. And, I know its a hassle, but go to your doctor, after all, that is what they're for!
3 :
The chances are that this is just tissue and it is nothing to worry about, but to put your mind at rest, try and talk to your mum and if that's hard, maybe a female doctor if that makes things easier for you to talk. Im sure you will be fine. XX

Occasionally, breast cancer presents as metastatic disease, that is, cancer that has spread beyond the original organ. Metastatic breast cancer will cause symptoms that depend on the location of metastasis. More common sites of metastasis include bone, liver, lung and brain. Unexplained weight loss can occasionally herald an occult breast cancer, as can symptoms of fevers or chills. Bone or joint pains can sometimes be manifestations of metastatic breast cancer, as can jaundice or neurological symptoms. These symptoms are “non-specific,” meaning they can also be manifestations of many other illnesses. Most symptoms of breast disorder do not turn out to represent underlying breast cancer. Benign breast diseases such as mastitis and fibroadenoma of the breast are more common causes of breast disorder symptoms. The appearance of a new symptom should be taken seriously by both patients and their doctors, because of the possibility of an underlying breast cancer at almost any age

Is breast cancer different than cancer? Why dont men have as much awareness for prostate cancer

Is breast cancer different than cancer? Why dont men have as much awareness for prostate cancer?
I always thought cancer was all the same and should all have the same urgency to be treated. What makes breast cancer more important than all other forms?

There are many different kinds of cancer and they all need different types of treatment. Men usually don't develop prostate cancer until they are over the age of 45 but there are exceptions. Breast cancer strikes women as almost any age and is thought to be hormone related. There's presently a big controversy over when women should get a mammogram to detect breast cancer but IMO the sooner the better since it can be very deadly. Prostate cancer is a slow growing cancer inmost cases but still there's the exceptions

What is the mode of inheritance of breast cancer

What is the mode of inheritance of breast cancer?

This site, http://www.ispub.com/journal/the_internet_journal_of_advanced_nursing_practice/volume_10_number_1_8/article/understanding_the_genetics_of_breast_cancer_a_clinical_overview.html Provides the information you're looking for. They explain the genetics of breast cancer far better than I could.
2 :
Hereditary breast cancer is rare; only 5 – 10% of all breast cancer cases are hereditary, and breast cancer diagnosed after the age of 50 is even less likely to be hereditary. There are two rare inherited faulty genes known to be responsible for hereditary breast cancer, Brca1 and Brca2. These genes can only be passed from parent (either one) to child. If someone inherits one of the faulty genes, each of his/her children has a 50% chance of inheriting that gene. Any child they have who inherits the gene has a 50% chance of passing it on to their own children. If any of their children don’t inherit the gene, nor will their own children Inheriting one of the genes does not mean one will definitely get breast cancer; that’s a 50 – 80% chance over a lifetime of around 75 years for a female, and for a male the risk is 1% with the BRCA1 gene and 6% with the BRCA2 gene over a lifetime

Symptoms different than regular breast cancer affects women of all ages even young teens. please educate yourself now! possibly save your own or someone you love's life. my reason for asking is that I want other people to be aware that there are other types out there and to be informed. Odd you should mention this topic, Rebecca, 'cause just this week I received an email with a video about inflammatory breast cancer. I forwarded it to many of my friends and then deleted it. Now I wish I still had it to send to you. It was very interesting and also quite upsetting. Thanks for bringing the subject to our attention! I'd never heard of it prior to receiving the email! gere

how much money must go to breast cancer if a store is selling a breast cancer item

how much money must go to breast cancer if a store is selling a breast cancer item?
I was at the store and there was a breast cancer bracelet, but none of the money went to breast cancer. Is there a law saying that some money must go to the charity?

My niece owns her own store and she always donates 10% to cancer research. Especially breast cancer since she's a survivor. However, she uses the pink ribbon which is the American Cancer Society's logo. So anyone using that, has to have permission. If they are selling products and telling you they are for cancer research but you see no evidence of it, don't go there and report them because they are falsely advertising. They have no right selling breast cancer bracelets without the permission of the ACS. Check it out. Something is fishy there.
2 :
Yes, the store must disclose what charity the proceeds are going to benefit. They can not make up a charity. The store must be affiliated with e specific charity. At least 70% of the proceeds should go to breast cancer research. 10% is nothing.
