Should I worry about calcifications after breast cancer

Should I worry about calcifications after breast cancer?
My wife had breast cancer 4 years ago and has been fine since. Shes had regular checks since but as her cancer was muscinous and grade 1 she was told recurrence was highly unlikely. She had a mammogram last week and it found some calcifications which are porbably benign but are just being check out incase. Has anyone else had similar? Was it OK? Is this normal?

Calcifications are fairly common . They are seen in women who have never had breast cancer and those who have. It is probably nothing. It is important that your wife has regular mammograms and she should keep copies of each of her reports. If you should move or she decides to got elsewhere for her mammograms she should take her reports with her and if possible the films, which are usually given on CD these days. This allows the radiologist to compare the films to note if there are any changes, especially something that is increasing in size this helps them detect cancer early.
