We just found out that my 30 year old wife has breast cancer

We just found out that my 30 year old wife has breast cancer?
We just found out that my 30 year old wife has breast cancer (biopsy came back). It’s 1.5cm, and the GP doc said it broke the membrane. If this is stage 1, what are the treatment options? How treatable is this?

It depends on the type of cancer, but treatment starts with surgery, followed with chemotherapy, radiation, or both. The GP should have referred your wife to an oncologist. If not, see that this is done right away. Given your wife's age, it will/should be treated aggressively.

Treatable. Take your time she's probably had it for several years. Be careful not to be jumped into full scale allopathic treatment by the fear based medical profession! UK- Dr Rosy Daniel - Health Creation US - Hippocrates centre. If your wife goes for a lumpectomy find someone who can do this without removing all armpit lymph nodes. The possible infected lymph node can be picked up with the better treatment options.

Your only answer will come from the oncologist, radiologist or whichever doctor will be treating her cancer. The good thing is you caught it early before it advanced too far. The ultimate method of treatment will come from the doctor that will be treating her cancer. It could be she can have chemo, radiation, mastectomy or other treatments, but these range from the type of cancer and the stage. I nor anyone here on Y!A will be able to give her a prognosis or decide what her treatment is. I am sorry to hear that she has been diagnosed with this and its a hard pill to swallow. I do wish you luck as she goes through whichever treatment she decides to take.

Please, I know you are terribly worried and my sympathies out to your wife, but do look up on a reputable website for a prognosis rather than seeking advice on here.,,also why hasn't your GP given you further information. At this stage you need all the help advice and knowledge you can get...and their are few professionals on this site. I do know that if your wife has to lose her breast that the national health will do corrective surgery i.e. in layman's terms a boob job which will give her confidence etc for the future. I do hope everything turns out for the best and as I am not a medical person would not dare to advise you other than what I have said above. Beware of advise on this site though there are some kooks out there. Apologies to all sincere people..but you know the sort I mean. I wish you and you wife a very long health and happy future

Any stage of breast cancer is treatable, and the early stages (1, 2, and even 3) can all be put into long-term remission with proper treatment. This depends entirely on the pathology of the tumor and the exact stage (whether nodes are involved). I'm sorry, it's particularly unfair that a young woman like your wife should have to deal with this. Not that it's fair that any of us do. If you do not have children, and if they recommend chemo, you may want to discuss the possibility of having her eggs harvested for future IVF. Chemo may result in her being unable to have children. Best of luck to you both.

Hi. To be honest, you sound a bit confused about parts of this. For example, what do you mean by broke the membrane? This isn't breast cancer terminology. If you're saying the tumor margins were not clear, this probably means the cancer may have spread beyond the tumor but not yet reached surrounding lymph nodes. I'm also wondering why a GP doc is interpreting the biopsy for you. In the US, this doesn't happen, so that might be the issue. Other than the general observation that Stage I breast cancers are usually very treatable, no one on here will have the info you seek. If your wife does have bc, at some point she'll see an oncologist and that is who you need to ask.

I was diagnosed with Stage 3B breast cancer on October 26 and I have to disagree with the person that said they will do surgery first. I will tell you my story my tumor is 2 cm not very big at all and I am now just finishing up my chemo because the tumor attached itself to my chest wall and they wanted to see if the chemo would get rid of the little tentacles attaching itself. I will then go thru surgery then 6 weeks radiation. If she is stage 1 it is very treatable!!! :) Even with my Stage 3 my tumor has shrunked by less than half and the treatment options are so advanced. Be very patient while they are figuring out the stage it takes alot to figure it out like size of .tumor, if it has affected the lymphnodes, or if it has spread. Just keep a positive attitude I have been extremely lucky on the sickness part they can manage the side effects very well now. Sometimes there is no radiation especially in Stage 1 they might just remove it and give some chemo. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your wife especially being so young. I am 33 years old and never thought that I would be dealing with cancer at my age. KEEP POSITIVE!!! that makes all the difference in the world. Keep smiling and be there for her.

The other answers all gave good information, but you might like to remember the website www.after-cancer.com. I wrote this to tell other patients what could help with side effects; once we have had preliminary treatment, we leave hospital - and sometimes it is difficult to get answers to the tiny, niggling questions that are a bother - so hopefully after-cancer.com can answer some if not all. Good luck - and I hope your wife recovers well. Verite R

Breast Cancer Alternative There are many supplements and remedies, if taken regularly and as recommended, that can give you the immune system of a child. Important, is to know them. This list of supplements can increase your chance of being cured of breast cancer considerably. If prostate cancer is becoming a concern for men, women are not in peace with breast cancer, which dries up the source of joy of thousands of women every year, rich and poor. In fact, breast cancer is not new, although its incidence seems increasing. In the 5th century BC, Atossa, the queen of Persia, had fought in vain against her breast cancer. Tears in her eyes, in excruciating pain, surrounded by family and friends, she had to say goodbye to power and wealth to an endless journey. Despite the progress of medical science, the frequency of breast cancer is increasing every day around the world. He is the most common cancer in women. One woman out of twelve will be affected by breast cancer during her lifetime, according to several medical statistics. The disease becomes so popular to the point that a large majority of women are afraid to undergo a mammogram. Women of all classes feel concerned about breast cancer. Billions of dollars are spent in studies, but the causes are still poorly understood, healing is hypothetical. To increase their chance of being cured of breast cancer, some victims turn to alternative treatments. Either alone or along with the conventional treatment (chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hormonotherapy, surgery, etc.) every day more and more women use natural medicine to fight breast cancer. If you are one of them, this article will be an additional weapon in your war against breast cancer. Is there an alternative way to eradicate breast cancer besides chemotherapy and radiotherapy? Immunotherapy - is a type of therapy consists of stimulating the normal defenses (immune reactions) of the body to fight or protect the body against pathogenic attack, including the development of cancer cells. Immunotherapy is not new as many may think; however, in the past, physicians believed that the immune system fought only against bacterial and viral attacks. About 100 years ago, Dr. William Coley has demonstrated that it can cure or control the proliferation of cancer cells by injecting vaccine that strengthens the immune system. However, the theory was not so appreciated by the medical elite. After years of studies, researchers have found that the immune system plays an essential role in protecting the body against cancer. Studies have also shown that patients who have a strong immune system not only more likely to be cured from breast cancer but also to reverse the effects of chemotherapy and radiation. That is, your chance to be healed depending largely on the health of our immune system. How can you boost your immune system naturally? There are many supplements, If taken regularly and as recommended, that can give you the immune system of a child. Some of them include: Lignans - Lignans are non steroidal compounds of the family of phytoestrogens (also known as dietary estrogens) found in large quantities in fruits and vegetables, soy, flaxseed and grains. They have preventive and curative effects on breast cancer, according to new studies conducted by a group of French and German doctors in premenopausal women with breast cancer and healthy premenopausal women. It seems that lignans affect the breast tissue by blocking the synthesis and movement of female hormones, preventing tumor development. The medical elite do not confirm these studies yet; if you are a cancer victim, however, you can increase your lignans intake. Ellagic acid - ellagic acid is a polyphenol antioxidant present in many fruits and vegetables such as raspberries, strawberries, cranberries, walnuts, pecans, grenades, etc. Researchers have found that Ellagic acid may inhibit or slow the development of cancer cells. It is also suggested that ellagic acid can help reduce heart disease, liver problems, and birth defects. However, to get satisfying results, this supplement must be taken with a diet rich in fruits and cruciferous vegetables. Astragalus - Astragalus propinquus (or simply Astragalus) has been used in herbal medicine for centuries to strengthen the body against diseases including but limited to colds, upper respiratory infections, heart disease, lower blood pressure, diabetes, liver problems, and many types of cancer. Astragalus has been shown in medical studies to have antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidants, antiviral and diuretic properties. Using it regularly as recommended, Astragalus can not only prevent or eradicate cancer cells, but also a wide range of other ailments. Graviola - also known as sour, Brazilian Paw Paw, Guanbana, Graviola boosts the immune system, reverses some chemotherapy side effects, and enhances the effectiveness of other cancer remedies.
