Can a blood clot in the breast be a sign of breast cancer?

I'm not sure what you mean by a blood clot in the breast, but the spot you described in your other question in Women's Health does not sound like a breast cancer symptom. If it's still there in a week or so, see your doctor. I see from your Q&A that you're 16; at your age the chances of having breast cancer are close to zero. It's mainly a disease of ageing; 80% of those diagnosed with it are over 50, it's rare in women under 40 and almost unheard of in under 25s. The American Cancer Society and other cancer organisations recommend that women begin breast self-examination at 20 - there's a reason for that. So try not to worry about breast cancer. As I said before, if the spot/bump on your breast is still there in a few days, see your doctor.

honey i saw this and your other question, and you DO NOT by ANY MEANS have cancer. Check out your bras. Once, when i was 18 (3 years ago) i noticed an almost black spot on my left breast. My first thought: OH SHIT< MELANOMA! ALL THOSE TOPLESS TANNING SESSIONS ARE FINALLY GOING TO KILL ME! I'm too young to die of anything, let alone cancer! My second thought: well, it's not raised, so it CAN'T be melanoma... Hours later: oh noooo it's raised, it IS melanoma or some other skin-cancer, and it's AGGRESSIVE! then i realized one of my favorite bras' wire on that side (yes i have certain bras that i love) had broken and was not painfully poking, but poking nonetheless, right there. What i had was not cancer, what sent me in a blood-pressure raising PANIC all day, was a mere blood-blister of sorts from a pesky bra wire.... and it went away within a week or two... i didn't count, i just noticed one day "oh hey, it's gone". check out your bras, and good luck!

I have never heard of a blood clot having anything to do with breast cancer. Breast cancer is a mass, or lump or inflammation of the breast tissue. Advanced age is the biggest risk factor for all cancers, also starting your period before age 12, having your FIRST child after age 30, late menopause and long term hormore replacement therapy. There is also a genetic risk of breast cancer, so if you have a Mom or sister that has breast, colorectal or ovarian cancer then you may share the same BRCA-1 or BRCA-2 gene that they carry which is linked to those cancers. Just because you have the gene does not mean that you will develop cancer, it just increases your risk. you should do a self exam of your breast 1 week after your period ends--lie down with one arm under your head, start in the arm pit and use the pads of your fingertips to make a complete circle around your breast from the outside all the way in to your nipples, then pinch the nipples to check for discharge, also, look at your breast in the mirror checking that they look the same size with your hands on your hips and raising both arms above your head -they should lift/flex evenly, if your nipple is retracted (sunk in), has a crust/discharge, or if the skin of your breast are shiny, swollen, or look like an orange peel (dimpled) then these are abnormal signs. have a doctor do a clinical breast exam every 3 years, and have a mamogram yearly after age 40. signs/symptoms A nonmovalble mass that is hard and painless, shiny swollen breasts, skin that resembles an orange peel, a nipple that ais sunk in or have discharge/crust...see your doctor.

I'm not sure about a blood clot being a sign of breast cancer... but if you're concerned about something you noticed go see your doctor. It may be caused by something totally non life threatening, or be nothing to worry about at all. In either case talking to a doctor may make you feel better.
