you know if they have had a biopsy it comes back as cancerous and the person with it tells you it vairies person to person factor of risk raised if cancer runs in the family, person is over weight (that type of cancer thrioves of ostrogen which is made in fat) is female hasn't breast fed a baby has had cancer before (especialy in a nearish area) lumps could be anywear in the breast tissue (including armpit) someone should look for any changes in the breast tissue, or seems abnormal to you when in doubt see a doc

You usually don’t know if you or someone else has breast cancer. Pain is not a symptom if that is what you mean. If it is left untreated it will eventually become painful. If you are a postmenopausal woman you are at risk and the risk increases with age. If you started your period before you were 12 or menopause after you were 55, are both risk factors. If you were on HRT is another. There are several. However, it is rare for breast cancer to run in families as only about 5% are hereditary. Breast feeding does not affect your risk one way or the other. Although the majority of breast cancer patients do have a lump in their breast they often do not know it and not all breast cancers present this way. If you have to be diagnosed with breast cancer its best when it’s found on mammogram and you have not noticed anything different at all. This is way they are recommended annually starting at age 40.

Some symptoms include uneven size or breast position (one seems larger than the other or seems to rest lower than the other), detecting lumps when performing self-examinations, drainage from the nipple, or an inverted or discolored nipple. My wife was diagnosed with this disease last year. Although she had had lumps for over 10 years, they had only became a concern last Spring when she noticed drainage from one breast. She had no pain and I've heard most don't. Her only warning sign was the drainage. Risk factors vary with age and family history of breast cancer, and mammogram screenings should be performed yearly. Twice a year after age 40. I listed some links. Please read. Good luck, Mark the charityplush.com team
